Lung function testing (spirometry) is used for the early detection of lung diseases and for monitoring progress during therapy.
During spirometry, the various lung volumes and the course of breathing are continuously recorded and displayed graphically.
For measurement, the patient breathes with the mouth through a small tube. The data are then analyzed by computer.
Spirometry is required for:
- Breathing problems
- Shortness of breath
- Chronic cough
- Lung diseases
- Diving fitness examination
Spirometry is used to detect / exclude:
- Bronchial asthma
- Chronic bronchitis
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
YOUR BENEFITS
Spirometry enables early detection of lung diseases and their timely therapy. Furthermore, spirometry is used to monitor the course of therapy.
