Long-term blood pressure measurement is a diagnostic method in which blood pressure is measured at regular intervals over a day and night.
The blood pressure is measured and recorded automatically via a cuff on the upper arm. During this process, the patient should follow his or her normal daily routine.
A log kept at the same time can later show correlations between exertion and changes in blood pressure.
The data are analyzed on the computer after the examination.
Long-term blood pressure measurement is required:
- if high blood pressure is suspected
- to assess the effectiveness of blood pressure-lowering measures
YOUR BENEFIT
Long-term blood pressure measurement is used for early detection of high blood pressure and its timely therapy. Furthermore, long-term blood pressure measurement is used to assess the risk of stroke (apoplexy).
